DISCOVERING AN ENIGMA (SEMANA DEL 21 AL 25 DE SEPTIEMBRE DEL 2020)

Instructions.

1.  Read the explanation about the past simple and past continuos (lee el anexo 1 y 2 sobre la explicación del pasado simple y pasado continuo).

2.  Read the text “The Stolen Pearls”. Underline the sentences and classify them in your notebook (lee el texto, subraya las oraciones en pasado simple y clasifícalas en tu libreta).             

         3.  Read again the text “The Stolen Pearls”, analize the enigma and make guesses. Use the vocabulary perhaps, maybe and probably (lee el texto otra vez, analiza el enigma y realiza tus conjeturas acerca del caso que se presenta).


Anexo 1

Past simple (pasado simple)

The past simple shows us that an action was in the past, not in the present.

Regular past simple verbs have -ed at the end. Example: calledplayedarrived

Irregular verbs have a different form, usually with a different vowel sound. Example: wake  wokebreak  brokefeel  felt.


Past continuous

The past continuous shows us that the action was already in progress at a certain time in the past.

We make the past continuous with was or were and the -ing form of the verb.
